Lanta Pavilion Resort
Lanta Pavilion is at the more expensive end of accommodation on Khlong Kong Beach: there are some that may say the beach itself, with its exposed rocks and mud at low tide, is not worth this price tag; others swear that Klong Khong is the best beach on the island, with sloping powder white sand and almost no people. We think the rooms (with the exception of the Garden View A/C category) are slightly overpriced for Koh Lanta, but they are nonetheless worth considering, especially if being able to pre-book family accommodation is important (most resorts on this beach deal only with walk-in guests).
Bungalows are the standard issue tiled affairs, though they have recently been spruced up with new soft furnishings, giving them a more trendy and less "local" feel. The newer rooms are also comfortable, with all the expected amenities - fridge, TV, air con and hot water shower - though bathrooms in the older rooms could be cleaner. The set of new rooms was opened in 2007, and are known as "Garden View". They offer more decoration and wood panelling. The deluxe version of Garden View is slightly bigger and closer to the sea. The family bungalow is two connecting Deluxe Garden View rooms (with an internal door), offering a total of two double beds.
Please note that the two lowest room categories - Fan and Standard A/C - do not have any TV or fridge. The fan room has only a cold shower. Neither comes with breakfast included.
The garden and in particular the beach front area in the resort is nice, clean and pleasant. You will find a small swimming pool which has a children's area, as well as the restaurant, bar and a couple of massage huts, all framed by towering coconut palms. WI-FI internet access has recently been installed and there is a safety deposit box service and even a barber! As with all Lanta hotels, motorbike and car rental and a full excursion and activity service is also available.
