Nakara Long Beach Resort
Lanta Longbeach Resort and its immediate neighbour, Lanta Nakara Resort, used to be hard to tell apart, as they were run by the same family and even shared a swimming pool and reception area. In fact it was never clear why there were two separate resorts at all, and it seems the owners now agree so they have finally merged them to create the mega "Nakara Longbeach Resort".
With a total of 137 bungalows, Nakara Longbeach is now one of the largest resorts on Phra Ae beach and, with the recent room refurbishment, is looking pretty nice. The wooden bungalows are tightly packed along winding footpaths behind the sand.
Beachfront Bungalow: Watch the sunset from your bed or your private balcony and step off your private deck onto the beach. These 11 spacious, natural wood bungalows are made from natural materials with a balcony, air conditioning, and a modern, western-style bathroom with hot water. Each unit has one double bed and one single bed allowing for a maximum of three people total per bungalow.
Luxury Bungalow: Enjoy an amazing beach view from your private balcony. Most resorts would call these 20 beachfront bungalows as they are literally steps away from the beach with a partial sea view. The unit has one double bed or two single beds allowing for a maximum of three people total per bungalow.
Superior Bungalow: 43 stylish, natural wood bungalows. Our back row bungalows have limited sea views but are still just seconds to the beach. The unit has one double bed or two single beds allowing for a maximum of three people total per bungalow.
Standard Bungalow: Our aircon bungalow without sea views - still just steps from the beach. These 32 spacious, thatch-roofed bungalows are made from natural materials with a balcony, air conditioning and a modern western-style bathroom. The unit has one double bed or two single beds allowing for a maximum of three people total per bungalow.
The bungalows are spotlessly clean, though they are all somewhat open to the elements, with lots of (mosquito blind covered) ventilation in the bedrooms and large open air bathrooms. Each has large french windows opening out onto a small terrace. The natural materials used - wood, bamboo - make everything feel very cosy. A few of the deluxe rooms can also be inter-connecting (interior door), which means a family or group of up to 6 people can stay all together.
The beach front swimming pool is nicely decked and reasonably large (though it does get crowded in peak season). The resort itself is located a little way out of Phra Ae village, next to the posh Layana Resort. It would be around 10 - 15 minutes walk to get to the bars and restaurants there, though there are also options nearby on the beach.
