Perched on the hillside, high above the spectacular Kantiang Bay, Lanta Marine Park View enjoys some of the best sea views on the island. The resort has recently been rented out and now seems to be managed by the bunch of long-haired, guitar-playing, shirtless Thai boys that used to run the bar out the front, so it remains to be seen what job they make of it; however, you can be sure it will be as laid-back and friendly as the bar was.

There are 3 room categories which we would recommend (the very old fan bamboo huts in the garden being mainly used as staff quarters and by long-staying guests): the front row Bay Front bungalows, right on the edge of the cliff; the second row Sea view bungalows; and the brand new Family suites, or Deluxe bay front rooms, due for completion in November 2007.

All rooms are arranged along very steep paths leading up the cliffside, so this resort would not be suitable for the unfit, or anyone with small children. In general, the rooms are large, clean and have full length picture windows to take in the view, opening on to a balcony out front - the Sea view bungalows unfortunately enjoying only a partial view of the ocean.

The bungalows are made from natural materials, with tiled floors and distinctive panelling inside the bedroom. They are air conditioned and have a fridge, TV, fan and hot water shower as standard. The design and layout of each is slightly different. The 4 new Deluxe bay front rooms have been built slightly further down the hillside, though their balcony overhanging the rocks means they are still not suitable for very young children. They are nice and modern and built as 2 units, each housing 1 suite on the upper and lower floors, and are slightly larger than the Bay front bungalows with 2 double beds in each - though facilities are the same.

It is a 2 minute walk down to the beach, down some steep steps. The beach is (in our opinion) the nicest on the island and is home to the 5-star Pimalai Resort, as well as several nice bars and restaurants.

Resort facilities include a restaurant and clifftop bar, Thai massage service, tour agency, motorbike and jeep rental, laundry service, facility for overseas calls and a high speed internet cafe. There is no swimming pool.

Reservation Policy
Prices are given in Thai baht and are per room per night and include all applicable taxes and breakfast. Children under 12 years sharing room with parents and no extra bed will be charged 150 baht for breakfast. Extra bed price includes breakfast.

Cancellation Policy
All cancellations will be subject to a 10% charge. Cancellations made less than 14 days before arrival in peak season and less than 7 days before arrival in high season will be subject to a further charge of one night’s stay. Early check out will also be subject to a one night charge. No show: no refund will be given.
