Holiday Villa Lanta
The 42 room Holiday Villa is tucked away at the far end of Klong Dao beach, on the steep slope that separates it from its neighbour, Phra Ae (Long Beach). Once the most luxurious resort on this beachfront, it is now looking rather faded and in need of a sprucing up - particularly as there are now plenty of other newer, more modern resorts snapping at its heels.
Still, Holiday Villa remains a favourite, with many repeat customers, who enjoy the quiet location and the comfortable family accommodation. The large grounds contain a wide range of rooms, some of which may not be suitable for those with very young children in buggies, or the infirm, as they are located up on the hillside.
The hillside rooms consist of several 2-storey buildings, housing the Deluxe rooms (ground floor only) and the Junior Suites, which offer a seaview from their large terrace upstairs. The garden view Deluxe rooms are spacious (36.5 sqm) and offer good value for money, with a king size bed, day bed and solid wood furniture. The bathroom is well-equipped with walk-in shower cubicle and separate bathtub, again all of high quality. In-room can be found a fridge with minibar, satellite TV, hot water kettle, safe, telephone, hairdryer and individual air-conditioning. Deluxe rooms can be connecting, upon request.
Junior Suites offer both a living and sleeping area. The two are separated by a furniture unit, on which the TV sits - and swivels to face both the bedroom and the lounge. The room itself is not much large than the Deluxe room - 44 sqm - and packs a lot more into the space. There is a small daybed, sofa and writing desk in the lounge area, plenty of storage, and a large 4-poster bed in the bedroom. The bathroom has a separate bathtub and shower. In-room facilities are the same as those in the Deluxe rooms. The outdoor terrace with seaview is pleasingly large at 20sqm, which makes it a nice place to relax and watch the sunset.
Further down, close to the beachfront area can be found the remaining accommodation - more suitable for families and those who don't like climbing. All individual villas, these are 57.5sqm in size, with a 12.5sqm terrace. They are built as mini-homes, with an entrance leading into a lounge area - with its own bar! - large bathroom, and finally a completely separate bedroom (separated by a wall and door) at the rear. Facilities are identical to those in the other rooms, and though the Villas are divided into two categories, Garden and Beachfront, the sole difference is in the location.
Other communal facilities at Holiday Vila include a freeform swimming pool with children and jacuzzi sections; small children's playground; beach front restaurant and bar, Thai massage service, travel counter and motorbike and car rental. The beach immediately in front of the resort is characterised by large rocks - a swimmable area is around 200m away.
