D.R. Lanta Bay is one of Koh Lanta's most popular family resorts. Located on the golden crescent of Klong Dao and 2km from Saladan village, the resort offers local Thai-style (read: shiny bedcovers, garish tiles and curtains and orange wood furniture) rooms in a flower-filled garden. What the rooms lack in style, they make up for in cleanliness and size - there are many options for families and the presence of a swimming pool is another plus for those with children.

Accommodation is all fairly similar, with the exception of the new VIP rooms (on which more below) and is divided up into bungalows and two buildings. The decor in both is the same, as outlined above, but some of the bungalows are larger than others and accommodate a double and a single bed (Mini suite) and some 2 double beds (Family suite). The L-shaped Mini suites are also connecting, meaning up to six people (or even 8 with extra beds) can share one living space.

The air con building rooms are in the same style, though those on the upper floor have a balcony instead of a terrace. These are also available as inter-connecting rooms. Bathrooms are tiled throughout and offer western toilet and hot water shower (no separate enclosure). In all the rooms you will find dressing table and wardrobe; cable TV, fridge and air conditioning.

The new VIP rooms are located above the reception area next to the beach front and pool. They are very different in style, with black tile floors and an elaborate elephant mural above the bed. The TV is a large flat screen model. Bathrooms offer a separate shower enclosure, but otherwise facilities are the same as in the other rooms. The balcony of these rooms is sea facing and all 4 rooms come in inter-connecting pairs.

Resort facilities include a beach front restaurant and bar, offering room service; the usual ticketing and tour counter; laundry service; Thai massage area; overseas calls; car parking; and bike and car rental. There is 24 hour security on the premises and safety deposit boxes are available at reception.

Reservation Policy
Prices are given in Thai baht and are per room per night, based on 2 people sharing. All room rates are inclusive of hotel service charge and government tax, as well as breakfast for 2 people only (despite the fact that some rooms sleep 3 or 4). Extra adults in each room will be charged 200 baht per day for breakfast and children (0-11 years) 120 baht per day each. Extra bed price does not include breakfast, which will be charged at the rates above. Children under 11 years sharing with parents are not obliged to take an extra bed, though they will be charged for breakfast. A maximum of 1 extra bed is allowed per room.

Cancellation Policy
All cancellations will be subject to a 10% charge. There will be a further charge of one night's stay for cancellations received less than 7 days prior to arrival, and early check out. Late arrivals that are not informed to the resort will be charged as normal. Any changes informed to the resort will be charged according to cancellation policy above. No refund will be given for no-shows.
